Jimmy Page - Death Wish II - Mega Deluxe Edition
Limited to ONLY 70 units!!!!!
In 1982, Jimmy Page beat funk maestro Isaac Hayes to the punch when he scored the commission to write and record music for Michael Winner’s action sequel Death Wish II.
Pieced together in just a few weeks, the resulting 37-minute soundtrack album was a blues-inflected affair replete with Page’s unmistakable guitar tone and layers of cutting-edge Roland guitar synth. Holed up with Page in his privately-owned studio, The Sol, legends of the British rock scene – among them singer Chris Farlowe, ex-Pretty Things keyboardist Gordon Edwards and Fairport Convention drummer Dave Mattacks – worked up a score with a gloomy, noir edge that reflected the film’s Los Angeles setting.
Page’s last soundtrack album to date, Death Wish II cycles through atmospheric instrumentals (The Chase), strutting blues-rock (Jam Sandwich) and full-bore post-Zeppelin riffing (Hypnotizing Ways (Oh Mamma)) as if his life depended on it.
Here in an expanded 2CD edition, Page’s original soundtrack recordings join a DVD of the film, along with a wealth of repro memorabilia from the era, including a rare interview with Jimmy Page, for International Musician magazine, promo photos of Page and of stills from the movie, posters, Press Book and Death Wish II lobby cards from a variety of international territories. In short: everything fans could desire.
“Everything hit the button totally! I’ve never seen a more professional score in my life” – Michael Winner
