anam creative are delighted to host the Glasgow gig of Grace’s tour of her debut album, Auchie’s Spikkin’ Auchie. By capturing Avoch’s unique dialect of Scots and local stories, it is an innovative, moving, and beautiful celebration of linguistic and cultural heritage.

Auchies Spikkin’ Auchie effortlessly intertwines field recorded conversations with her new compositions to create an ethnomusicological postcard of her wee home village, Avoch. Grace is a clàrsach player, composer, performer and ethnologist belonging to the Black Isle and is deeply rooted in the Scottish trad scene. She is joined on stage by Rose Logan on fiddles, Rhona MacDonald on double bass and Ewa Adamiec on drum kit. The live performance is accompanied by stunningly sensitive film of the Avoch landscape, created by Michiel Turner.

Joining Grace as support for this show will be Mairi Sutherland. Described as having the ‘allure of a siren song’, Mairi is a captivating contemporary folk artist from Perth, known for her woven compositions, distinctive, intricate guitar style and soulful vocals. Drawing influence from the likes of Laura Marling, Fleet Foxes and Focus, her music blends open tunings and folk-rooted melodies with complexities inspired by the prog rock that captivated her as a child. Her lyrics, often playfully profound, delve whimsically into her self-critical nature.

Mairi and Grace first met in 2023 as commissioned artists on anam creative’s music collab, a project inviting six musicians and producers to collaborate on the creation of an album of original music. Since the culmination of this project in 2024, we’ve seen Grace and Mairi grow from strength to strength and establish themselves as exciting new talent in Scotland’s flourishing music scene. We’re delighted to present this gig, bringing together both artists and showcasing the diversity of Scottish music and the talented voices at the heart of it.
