The official Glasgow launch party for Storm the Palace's 2nd LP!!
Storm the Palace are an Edinburgh-based five piece making oddball folk pop that sits somewhere between early St. Vincent and They Might Be Giants. Featuring guitar, bass and drums alongside vocal harmonies, accordion, electric violin and a raft of strange sounds, their members have played with a diverse range of other acts from folk heroes Shooglenifty to indie legend Meursault and up-and-coming punks Goodbye Blue Monday.
Storm the Palace have toured in the UK, the US and Ireland, and released their first LP in 2017 to a wave of critical praise (Scotland on Sunday hailed it as "one of the best albums of the year"). Their 2nd LP 'Delicious Monster' comes out on Oct 4th and has already accrued such praise as "An LP with darkness, light, humour and sadness in equal measure, and an album I think I will be listening to a lot in the coming weeks" (Monolith Cocktail).
Peplo are a prodigiously talented and annoyingly young band from Glasgow, making music that sounds a bit like The Cranberries or 10,000 Maniacs but with added complexity and muso appeal.
Currently Glasgow-based (via Edinburgh and Minneapolis), Faith Eliott creates intricate, glowing little worlds in the form of folk songs. The Skinny described their debut album 'Impossible Bodies' as "a bestiary in its own right... with lessons of love and history, heartbreak and geology sprinkled throughout."
