We had January off!

Well let's face it nobody wants to do anything in January, where the 31st feels like the 131st! February isn't much better to be fair, but can show hints of sunnier days... slowly.

We had started a concept album about a pirate girl's adventures from 1700 - 1725, which was the golden age of piracy, and the songs are pretty much written. The narrative is taking longer as it evolves, so we're now thinking that may have to be a 2026 project, although some of the songs may appear on set lists during 2025!

However...

I (Mike) had a bunch of songs I'd started to write and play live after the Two Kingdoms Album with my Valiant Knights band. These songs had been played by Briar & Bramble around the same time we recorded our Rum Tales ep but were never recorded. At the close of our shows last December, we had many folks ask where they could find songs such as Black Bess and Bella Sheephead! It dawned on me that these songs had been left behind.

So whilst our pirate girl adventures are moulded, we have recorded 10 new songs for our 2025 album 'Folklore' which we will release May 2025.

The songs are a collection of Folklore inspired songs mainly from the Lake District where we live. I felt I wanted to put them to bed as recordings before they get lost to my ever growing songbooks of works!
