Zohara is a musician who does everything on her own. She is writing, composing, singing, playing and producing the music. Her production is drawn from a variety of influences - electronic music as well as classical music and jazz.
Between 2012 to 2014, in her room in Tel Aviv, Zohara produced her first album 'Growing up Anyways’, that will be released later on this year. The album is made of 12 original songs that mostly deal with the doubts of many people in their early twenties, in a world so unstable and vague.
In 2013, Zohara began to perform in Israel and London and make music videos for her songs. The four videos released in 2014-2015 and warmly criticised, both in Israel (Mako, ynet, Time Out, Nana 10..) and especially in the UK (The Line of Best Fit, Clash, It's all Indie, FLUX magazine, WATM Magazine, 17 Seconds, NME - The Buzz). One of the songs, ‘Drum & Bass’, even broadcasted on MTV World, and the song ‘Lost’ was premiered on the british magazine 'Konbini’.
Zohara's concert combines the acoustic with the electronic world. Intensive search for live concepts that expresses the music the best, formed into a drummer playing on acoustic and electronic set, and Zohara that sings and plays a variety of synthesizers.
"...Anyway give it listen (and watch) yourself and make up your own mind. We reckon Zohara deserves to be up there in the charts and in the public consciousness. Whether she will though depends on the odd machinations of the music industry but she deserves it." Flux Magazine.
"..Reminiscent of Bjork, say, but with a gritty, DIY sensibility, it's early days for Zohara – but these are promising signs." Clash Music.
"…This track and video ‘Bass and Drum’ are simply stunning. Proof yet again that the phrase ‘pop music’ is being reclaimed from the teeny-boppers and can be applied to outstanding music. This track is one of the best I have heard this year.." 17 Seconds
"This is a cut from the wealth of material ZOHARA’s been putting together in her bedroom studio – from what we’ve heard it’s all really quite incredible, let alone the fact it’s a DIY production. Look out for more in the near future..." It's all Indie
