“Yassassin strike upon alt-rock gold with their debut.” – The Line of Best Fit “Full of scratchy, indie-pop gems.” – Loud & Quiet “Their insistent and loud-mouthed guitars blended with throaty bass murmurs all equalling to pop perfection.” – Pile Rats “With multi-layered, ethereal vocals and lush, butter-soft harmonies, this colourfully chaotic debut blends just the right balance of baggy, ‘90’s-tinged goodness with a raucous, Breeders-esque bite.” – The Most Radicalist

Although London was the city in which five-piece-firehouse Yassassin all met, their members are originally from all over the world. A playful entity that criss-crosses back and forth from Sweden, Australia, Italy and finally touching back down in the UK, Yassassin’s magnetic musical paths and ambitions drew them to the capital and to each other. Having been friends for several years whilst all in different bands (The History Of Apple Pie, LUST, Bonfire Nights, Loaded), pushing and pulling their shared and separate loves into one project seemed like a natural next step. This is a pack mentality: name patches tacked to the back of jackets, doing the things they love best with the people they love best.

The band’s no filler, all killer formula is dynamically bulletproof. Inspired by a combined love of Le Tigre, PJ Harvey and The Breeders, Yassassin pride themselves on making energetic dance-on-the-table indie rock ‘n’ roll. Melodic, catchy pop perfection is personified through ramblingly loud guitars, trembling bass lines and drums that barge their way into your bones with or without your permission.

With their first three gigs ever being in support of peers SULK, Hatcham Social and Flamingods, the girls are quickly concreting the fun-filled foundations of their explosively loud live set. From the moment the guitars fly into gear, it’s clear that this fivesome are not just party starters but the party itself. Whoever said girls should be seen and not heard has clearly never seen Yassassin on stage.

As the band release their debut single ‘Social Politics’ with accompanying video shot in the neon shadows of Soho, Yassassin are set to venture into the studio to record their EP with producer Dave Allen (The Cure, Neneh Cherry, Depeche Mode).
