Wooden Rocket are a Liverpool based band that weaves between the styles of country, psychedelic, americana, and pop, not unlike The Grateful Dead or Creedence Clearwater Revival. With sweet sounding harmonies, catchy melodies and danceable grooves, you can catch them live as either a duo or as full, 4-piece in acoustic settings or rocking it up on the big stage.
Wooden Rocket started when Jaime April and Jason Moon from the Canadian group APRIL MOON moved to Liverpool in 2018. They decided to put together a new project with bass player Tino Keith and drummer Christian Smith that included songs from their two full length APRIL MOON albums alongside a new collection of songs that the pair had been working on. Christian's deep organic drumming combined with the crisp Entwistle-like bass playing of Tino provides a rich underlay supporting the tight harmonies and ripping guitar sounds of Jaime and Jason.
The group already has performed at several cool festivals such as "Bickerstock" in Lancashire, "Party In The Park" in Suffolk and "Hells Fells" in the Yorkshire Dales. Some other highlights include the opportunity to open for American group 'Loud Mountains' during Heaven's Gate Americana Night at the historic Liverpool venue 81 Renshaw as well as perform in the Grand Opry Sessions held at Phase One in Liverpool. In addition the band was featured in an interview and performance on Billy Butler's September 14th, 2018 afternoon show on BBC Radio Merseyside. The group's debut EP was released December 1, 2019!
