Top Cat Collective are a six-piece funk and hip-hop group hailing from the South East/London. Combining the insatiable grooves of George Clinton and Parliament Funkadelic, with the forward thinking aesthetic of J Dilla, and Madlib, their unique concoction of hip-hop and funk is unparalleled. A veritable super group of talent, their members have toured across the U.K playing Beach Break festival, Lounge on the Farm, 02 Academy Islington, Hop Farm, Cheltenham Jazz Festival, and the Royal Albert Hall as well as performing at the New Orleans French Quarter Festival and the iconic Old Mint in Louisiana. Their full live setup is hard to beat, with the powerful vocal talents of Chris Hutchings – of Black Gabanza – and Harriet Langley more than matched by their relentless rhythm section, and they’ve received innumerable plaudits for their live show.
Their debut EP was released last year, and they toured in support of it. Events included a sold-out show at the Sussex Arms in their hometown of Tunbridge Wells, a performance at The Forum, a slot at the El Dorado Festival and gigs at the Basement Sessions in Hackney, the New Cross Inn and a headline show at the Good Ship with a self-curated line-up.
2017 sees them record their second EP at Goldsmiths Music Studios in London. An expansive and bold record, it is being engineered by Phil Scragg (Robert Plant, Dave Migden and the Twisted Roots) and will be out in the Summer.
Their first date of the year is in support of the highly talented Lazy Habits at the prestigious Tunbridge Wells Forum on February 24th.
