The Slow Cooked Bears play visceral alternative noise rock.
They have a left-field, avant-garde sound that’s both nostalgic and modern with elements of grunge, synth pop and reverb heavy post-rock.
The band’s debut single “Space Odyssey” is a symphonic electronic rock anthem, released against all odds.
Singer/guitarist James had almost given up on music after moving to London and meeting some very dubious musicians. Writing songs in his spare time, he dreamt of being in an alternative rock band with dreamy post-rock vibes.
Bassist Hyunsu took up learning the bass guitar, initially just helping James to record demo tracks. Her edgy, darker and more grounded philosophy served as the perfect contrast to James’ dreamy and idealistic song writing.
Drummer Josh joined the band after a line-up change and brought a professional dynamic to the band’s sound. From the moment the trio first played together they all knew they were onto something special.
The band started working on recording their first single but there were delays getting the track mixed and it was during this turbulent period they had the most harrowing of shocks, a band member was diagnosed with cancer. Concurrently the Coronavirus pandemic started to take hold and the world went on lockdown.
After going through surgery and a lot of hard work, Hyunsu luckily made a full recovery. The band pushed on to get the track finished and just in time for the release date “Space Odyssey” was unleashed on the world.
With a follow-up single already recorded and in the works there’s a lot more exciting things to come from the band.
