"'MYTHOMANIA' is the new thundering scorcher from the UK's multi cultured Them Things.
It's a sound that departs from the dream pop of their self released 'Good Weird’ EP, which ultimately aimed to deliver a lo-fi sound. Like their previous tracks, ‘MYTHOMANIA' was composed and produced at the boys home studio, picking up its listeners up where the transitional ‘ASTRONAUTS’ left them.
Having catapulted from ‘ASTRONAUTS’ haunted house esque coma of noise, ‘MYTHOMANIA’S’ 70’s stadium guitars introduce what can only be described as a three minute epic, riding off one singularly powerful riff. Crunchy 'tongue in cheek’ guitar harmonies bleed into the second half of the track as it climaxes to an explosive rumble. The lyrics suggest a frenzied frustration with the world and a longing for understanding, drawing metaphors from obscure subject matter that may sometimes seem nonsensical.
‘MYTHOMANIA'S’ Video is directed by Ross Anderson, creator of the bands equally strange video for their first single ‘OH BROTHER'. This particular story tells the tale of The Grim Reaper; a truly tortured soul who desperately craves a companion in the world when the guilt of his job sets in.
He drives around in his black hotrod beetle on a cereal killing spree until he unexpectedly falls in Love with a besotted girl who coincidently breaks deaths chain. Love cheats death, and consequently the whole world begins to collapse as the two ride Grim's onyx chariot into the sunset."
