Theia (Em-Haley Walker) is an exciting singer-songwriter from Christchurch, New Zealand.
Walker made her debut in 2015 (then under the moniker Plum) with the electro-pop-meets-sultry-R’n’B track ‘Silver Second’, produced by Alex Hope. It caught the attention of US tastemaker blogs Hillydilly and Pigeons & Planes and established Walker as one of New Zealand music’s most exciting emerging acts.
In August 2016, after a name change to Theia, Walker released her first official single ‘Roam’, produced by Josh Fountain. A catchy glitter pop anthem with a soaring chorus, it went on to become one of the biggest breakout hits by a Kiwi artist in 2016 and proved Walker was worthy of the hype that’s seen her tipped as the next big name in NZ Music.
‘Roam’ made its mark on the Spotify Global Viral Chart, US Viral Chart, Australian Viral Chart, Malaysian Viral Chart and topped the NZ Viral Chart. It received more than 3 million plays on Spotify in three months and continues to grow.
It also dominated the airwaves in New Zealand, reaching the coveted ‘Top 5’ in the Airplay Charts and held #1 spot as the most played Kiwi song on radio for seven consecutive weeks.
In late December 2016/early January 2017 Theia embarked on her first-ever tour alongside one of New Zealand’s most successful musical exports, Broods and the chart-topping local sensation, Kings.
She’s now about to release her new single, the epic ‘Champagne Supernova’, another soaring anthem that showcases the sophistication of Walker’s songwriting abilities.
Theia's debut EP is scheduled for release in 2017.
