The Fiction Aisle is the new project from Brighton-based musician/songwriter Thomas White. Formed in 2014 as a solo studio venture, the ensemble has now expanded to a 10-piece, combining rock instrumentation with woodwind, brass and electronics. TFA combines convoluted romantic songwriting with arch orchestral arrangements and modern ambient textures, taking cues from myriad influences - Noël Coward, Alison Goldfrapp, Irving Berlin, Broadcast. The Fiction Aisle released their debut album Heart Map Rubric in November 2015 to critical acclaim, the record quickly making it to the top of many end-of-year lists.

"Big, cinematic music that’s hewn in the shadow of John Barry, John Grant, Lloyd Cole and the Last Shadow Puppets, yet is very much its own creature. Much of it is a delicious investigation of old-fashioned pre-rock songwriting, but done from the heart rather than for kitsch kicks…a gorgeous surprise." THE ARTS DESK

"Daring to take a stab at nostalgia without fully succumbing to homage and tribute, White has fashioned a brilliantly rich and modern take on an old classic, and in the process delivered some of the most beautiful arrangements of 2015." MONOLITHCOCKTAIL.COM

"Refined and seductive…one of the albums of the year." ONDAROCK

"Musically striking, huge in scope…it pairs the retro-fetishism of Broadcast with the cinematic drama of a John Barry score, and the arrangements don't put a foot wrong." VIVE LE ROCK
