Quinn Hoerner and Vladyslav Nykoliuk, the two founding members of ‘The Chrysalids’ first met in school while both were taking the same class. Through their newfound friendship and similarity in music genre/taste, they decided to begin playing together. Their first (unofficial) practices were held in Guitar Center in Times Square. After numerous practices between solely Vladyslav and Quinn, the duo decided to open the group up and introduced an acquaintance, Richards Nimbley, who became the drummer of the band. Although Richards did not own as much as a pair of drumsticks, the duo gave him a chance. After several weeks, the band talks about introducing a bassist, Angel Melgar. The newly-organised band held a demo recording session in the lead guitarist’s hometown, Astoria (Queens).

In the months that followed, Angel leaves the band due to personal conflicts at home. In October of 2017, The Chrysalids invited a friend of Vladyslav, Jacob Young, to replace the missing bass member. Jacob’s involvement in the band is most notorious for his introduction of the band to his brother, Tim Brown, frontman for Staten-Island based band called ‘BackUp’. Tim listened to the demos of the new band and almost immediately booked them to open for his show that was set to take place in November that same year. In a months time for preparation, Tim offers his studio in Stapleton for the band to rehearse in. In the months preceding this performance, the band had become uptight. Last minute, Quinn has introduced his brother, Jake, to audition for the band to sing on a few songs and he agreed. Playing their first show, the experience was electrifying and yet disconcerting. The band had, after this performance, began a hiatus, finishing up the final moths of high school in the 2017-2018 cycle.

In the most recent months, the band has gotten together again with a tighter and more rigid structure. The introduction of a new drummer, Alex Pan, subsequently changed the most up-to-date lineup. Currently holding rehearsals, The Chrysalids are working on producing their first album, title TBA, and recording demos as they go. Returning for the Summer Tour of 2019. The Chrysalids have got a much more creative dynamic and personability to their musical sensibilities, playing with various sounds, they have developed a broader and more expansive musical progression and are ambitious to advance the modern day rock scene.
