In 2016, Rhys Harrison formed Prolez (pronounced proles), at Falmouth University, with fellow music students Kizzy Porter (Bass) and Angus Roberts-Carey (Drums). They quickly became known as one of Falmouth’s fastest bands- playing regularly at local venues and amassing a loyal following of sweaty, mosh pit miscreants along the way. Harrison, the driving force of the band, provides heaps of influences and punk expertise from his childhood spent in America, to his later return to the Valleys of Cardiff. Using themes of socialism, and anti-fascism, the band have created a unique, unapologetic, form of punk (with the occasional ska/ reggae track thrown in for good measure). Recently, their antiestablishment song themes were praised by Radiohead’s Ed O’Brien, during a visit to Falmouth University. O’Brien commended the band on the subculture that they had moulded themselves into- but also helped develop, in a small town on the Cornish coast. Prolez are hoping to release their debut album this summer- which will have been recorded, mixed, and produced solely by the multi-talented band members. Expect fury, joy, and aggression. Expect the unexpected.
