Complex Postage & Packaging Explained

Setup

All calculations displayed on this page are based on the example in this section. Here we are adding COMPLEX POSTAGE for a t-shirt and a CD, with values for 1st item and subsequent items. To keep things simple, we will assume the customer is located in the same country as the vendor.

Tshirt
1st Item: $3
Subsequent: $2

Vinyl
1st Item: $2
Subsequent: $1

Multiples of the Same Product

Customers here are buying multiples of the SAME PRODUCT and will be charged the amounts below (Note: hover your cursor over the items to see the calculations).

1st item Tshirt: $3

= $3

1st item Vinyl: $2

= $2

1st Tshirt: $3
+ subsequent Tshirt: $2
+ subsequent Tshirt: $2

= $7

1st Vinyl: $2
+ subsequent Vinyl: $1
+ subsequent Vinyl: $1

= $4

Mixed Products

Customers with DIFFERENT PRODUCTS in their baskets will be charged the amounts below. The most expensive 1st item postage charge is always used, followed by the subsequent postage charges for all additional products.

1st Tshirt: $3
+ subsequent Vinyl: $1

= $4

1st Tshirt: $3
+ subsequent Tshirt: $2
+ subsequent Vinyl: $1
+ subsequent Vinyl: $1

= $7

Split Dates

If products have different fulfilment dates (for example, 1 product is on pre-sale) then the postage calculation is even more granular. Products are first grouped with the same fulfilment date before the postage calculation begins.

1st Tshirt: $3
+ subsequent Vinyl: $1
+ 1st Vinyl: $2

= $6

1st Tshirt: $3
+ subsequent Tshirt: $2
+ subsequent Vinyl: $1
+ 1st Vinyl: $2

= $8
