Oskar Braves are an explosive 5 piece alternative rock band hailing from the ancient capital of Scotland, Dunfermline. The band formed in 2016 after crossing paths on the Scottish gigging circuit in different projects and felt together they would be a good fit, they were correct. Wailing guitars, unique powerful vocals and powerhouse drumming all clicks together to give a mesmerising, unforgettable, raw live show. Oskar Braves draw influences from the cool side of the 80’s and 90’s, from bands such as The Cure, New Order and Big Country as well as having contemporary influences such as The War on Drugs and The National. Oskar Braves pride themselves on their energetic and loud live show, surprising and stunning audiences across the country.
The name ‘Oskar Braves’ is contrived from the protagonist in Gunter Grass’ novel ‘The Tin Drum’ where Oskar refuses to conform to the norm. That’s exactly Oskar Braves’ approach to music as they continue to push melodic boundaries and write songs they would listen to.
With pedal boards the size of dining tables, you would be fooled to think there were a 10 piece band on stage. You’ll ask yourself more than once if a guitar really did make that sound or if there is a keys player hiding behind the amps (there isn’t. They aren’t that big yet). It’s clear to see a great deal of time and skill has gone into producing their euphoric sounds and perfecting their craft.
Oskar Braves have supported Catfish and the Bottlemen, Blossoms, Glasvegas, Embrace, Judas and Prides to name a few. The band also featured at Carnival 56 Festival, Silverburn Festival, EH6 Festival, Outwith Festival in Dunfermline and have been involved in 3 sell out shows at King Tuts Wah Wah Hut, Glasgow. Oskar Braves were also nominated for Best Live Act at the 2017 Scottish Alternative Music Awards and embarked on a mini tour of Bavaria, Germany in October 2017. The band is still relentlessly gigging as well as currently being in the studio recording new music which is set to be released in April 2018.
