BUOY lights up the sky with new single, ‘Clouds & Rain’
Sydney based artist BUOY (aka Charmian Kingston) has spent the last year steadily building her reputation as one of Australia’s most innovative and interesting electronic acts. She now returns with Clouds & Rain, the first single from her forthcoming Break EP via October Records.
Working with long time collaborator Jack Grace and recent Pieater signing Christopher Port, Clouds & Rain sets BUOY’s striking vocals against an atmosphere of syncopated percussion and sculptured soundscapes. The result is an evolving, addictive and up-tempo new single that builds on her previous output to serve as a taste of things to come in 2016.
After releasing her debut Immersion EP in 2015 to rave support across Australian and international press (Clash Magazine, Oyster Magazine, Pigeons & Planes, Indie Shuffle and more), BUOY has since been added across all Australian tastemaker radio, featured on Triple J Unearthed and had spins on BBC Radio & KCRW. 2015 also saw her garner support from contemporaries such as ODESZA, Jagwar Ma and Belle & Sebastian, become a Spotify Feature Artist and FBi Radio’s Independent Artist of the Week.
