Coming together in an old Edinburgh bakery, OceanCode are a young four-piece folk-pop band from all across Scotland. Formed in late 2016, the band features Morgan Smith from Aberdeen, Peter Wall from Dumfries, David Burns from Glasgow and is fronted by Hit The Road alumna, Ruth Gillies from Inverness.
Carefully marrying elements of folk, pop and rock together, OceanCode create a distinctive sound with catchy melodies and clever hooks. This often places the band somewhere between the likes of Amy MacDonald and Taylor Swift and has resulted in an invitation to participate at an international songwriter’s camp over in Holland. Since forming, OceanCode have received warm responses from crowds across the central belt at venues including King Tut’s as part of the Summer Nights Festival and The Mash House where they supported New Zealand outfit, French For Rabbits on their European tour.
