Mørland is a Norwegian artist, songwriter and producer. Kjetil Mørland is originally from Grimstad, a small town on the south Norwegian coast, but has lived in the UK for most of his adult life. His music combines Scandinavian and British pop, and Kjetil has a very apparent talent for catchy melodies and personal evoking lyrics. David Bowie, early Elton John, Aha, ELO and of course The Beatles are some of many sources of inspiration.
With his British band Absent Elk Kjetil released the album ‘Caught In the Headlights’, which was produced by Toby Smith (Jamiroquai). The singles ‘Sun & Water’ and ‘Emily’ both got rotation on national British radio and the band also guested Dermot O’Leary’s popular talkshow on Radio 2, where they played acoustic live versions of their songs. The band also did several tours as both headliners and support for bands like The Script and Keane, playing venues including London’s O2 arena.
This year Mørland won the Norwegian leg of Eurovision with his song ‘A Monster Like Me’, representing Norway with a respectable 8th place in the international final in Vienna. The song has been listed on several national radio stations and has sold to platinum in his home country.
Mørland is releasing his next single ‘Skin’ in February and the debut solo album is expected in March/April this year.
