Michael Cassidy is a singer songwriter from Paisley who's music is best described as contemporary folk/pop. Michael sites a great variety of influences ranging from Folk heavyweights such as Richard Thompson and John Martyn to more contemporary acts such as Rufus Wainwright and Laura Marling. Michael is the inaugural winner of the Gerry Rafferty songwriting award with his song 'The men who stood beside me in the war'. Over the last couple of years Michael has also been invited over to North America to play at the CMW and NXNE festivals. As well as these festivals Michael has also traveled the length and breadth of the UK supporting established acts such as Ben Howard, Frightened Rabbit, Amy MacDonald, Stornoway, Martha Wainwright and John Grant. Michael released his debut album 'My Electric Heart' at the start of 2015 and is currently in the studio working on the follow up.
