With aural nods to Cocteau Twins and ‘Mirage’-era Fleetwood Mac and drawing comparisons to Vaults and 90’s dance collective Olive, the music of brand new artist Mere Child is dark and fragile, yet soaring and cinematic. Aimee Herbert-Smith aka Mere Child has been making music all her life but for the last three years she has been heavily focused on her personal life: marriage, birth and tragic loss. Of beginning to make music again, she says: “I felt the need to start writing and recording in a different way to how I had done before. Somehow, going solo at this point seemed fitting with the content of the songs - more vulnerable and anxiety driven.”
"The gauzy graceful music Mere Child gives us on Not Good Enough is exquisite, swirling unadulterated in a thick fog of ponderous emotion" I Heart Moosiq
"Not Good Enough’ oozes shades of the likes of Cocteau Twins and the vocals of Stevie Nicks, with its own unique electro-pop vibes. Flowing with hazy, synth-heavy melodies and Aimee’s crisp, haunting vocals, the track is filled with a majestic cinematic grandeur" Gigslutz
