A Call to ears

"Tearing the feathers of your heart", mused John Spillane on hearing the potency of Mooney's hypnotic vocals. Playing meditative tunes that fuse both lyricism with profound observation, Mooney's songs reference themes of love, friendship and remembrance set within the framework of everyday. Characterised by a graceful intimacy, Mooney's performances confess to those hidden vulnerabilities we so often deny of ourselves, and in so listening thus gain that much sought after sense of surrender. Taking musical influence from the earthy sounds of Irish folk and accompanied by stripped back acoustic guitar, Mooneys unburdened style is balm to the soul. Mooney has taken his distinctive sound to stations such as BBC Radio Ulster 92-95 FM, U105 and Q Radio and, has performed in the Waterfront Hall, The Sunflower and in the Europa Hotel Belfast. While travelling Asia and New Zealand Mooney quietly penned material inspired by his unquiet life, and is currently working on recording these dispatches of the heart with an EP set for 2019.
