Lucy Shaw is an acoustic singer-songwriter who has performed predominately in Birmingham, Worcestershire and Liverpool. She was a winner of GT's Records' Young Entertainer of the Year 2015 and recorded her first two singles with them – ‘Scared to Forget’ (released October 2016) and ‘Gunshots’ (released February 2017). Lucy has also been invited to use the excellent retro Crystal Ship Studio in Sheffield by Key Music Management who manage acts like The Pixies and The Fratellis and they have produced one of her next two singles. Lucy seeks to take her audience on a storytelling journey, so they experience a range of emotions - from the uplifting 'Wingman' onto 'On This Day' - a reflection on the happiness of marriage, to the brutal drink driving “Slippers on the Floor”. Overall, she wants to leave her audience feeling emotionally moved but with a smile on their face Radio 1 DJ Huw Stevens scored Lucy's song entry 'Fall in Love with the World' in the national ‘Stripped Back’ singer- songwriter competition 9 out of 10. Commenting: “It sounds effortless and really charming”. Lucy has been seriously captivating her audiences for the last four years since finishing her GCSE's (but been performing for over 6 years) at range of venues across the country but predominately in Birmingham, Liverpool and Worcestershire to audiences of up to 300 people. They have included: The Rainbow Room - headlining and supporting acts like Mahalia and the Sunflower Lounge: supporting The Treetop Flyers and Australian band Bootleg Rascal on their European Tour. Other venues include: Pendenis Castle, The Old Crown, The Roadhouse, The Flapper, The Queen’s Head, Hannah’s Bar, McCooley’s Bar, Northfield and Sutton Festivals etc. In 2017 Lucy progressed to play at her first larger festivals ‘BBC CarFest-South’ and ‘Dubs In The Middle’. The reaction from her audience was excellent and evidenced she is now ready and sufficiently developed as an artist to play a range of festivals in 2018. She has appeared and had radio plays on Radio Brum, BHBN, Scratch FM and BBC local radio and played all the main open mics - often being asked to perform again during the evening. She has undertaken numerous live radio interviews (Brum Radio, BBC Hereford and Worcester, Hospital Radios throughout the country, Scratch FM Radio, etc.). Lucy has also played at charity events, weddings, social clubs, coffee shops and black-tie balls as both the main artist and as a supporting act. She has been exposed to a broad range of experiences in terms of artists she has played with and audiences she has performed to. She has even played some social clubs uniquely delivering her own songs to tough audiences and in 2016, Worcestershire Social Clubs presented her with the Youth Award! She consistently receives excellent audience reactions in Birmingham, Worcestershire and now since studying in Liverpool, this friendly and engaging singer-songwriter is ‘ready and focused’ to share her music and further develop her passion for song-writing and performing. In her hour-long interview at BHBN radio the interviewer commented,” ... your songs are beautiful, you are a natural on radio, is there anything you can’t do? You are clearly going places.” The “…going places” comment is one we frequently hear at gigs. Lucy is a talented artist with a beautiful voice, a skilful guitarist with a great image; she has charm and an incredible maturity to her song-writing. Her stories undoubtedly have an impact on her audience. She is excited to be able to share her latest songs - so don't miss this opportunity to experience this up and coming songstress.
