LILURA is the alias of songwriter and artist Jemma Tweedie. based in the small seaside town of Nairn, LILURA aims to captivate audiences with dark electronic beats infused with fun, glittering witch pop. After having a relatively successful career as a singer/songwriter between 2012 and 2016, touring the UK as an acoustic act, making appearances at festivals such as Rockness, Wickerman, Belladrum , Cornburry, and gaining both BBC radio and TV airplay as well as being Cafe Nero’s touring artist in 2013 which involved organising and playing 41 in store sessions from Aberdeen to London in 20 days. Jemma then took a year to focus on her writing and production skills creating a sound she was truly passionate about. This brought about the launch of LILURA in 2017. Having worked relentlessly on her writing and performance skills over the course of the year LILURA has released her debut EP followed up by her single ‘Darkest Desire’. In the previous 8 months she has worked as an independent artist and created her own opportunities in the hope that her experiences will encourage other artists from rural areas to chase their dreams. The tail end of November saw LILURA complete a 5 date Scottish tour to promote her recent single release which was organised independently visiting small venues. She has visited Los Angeles, Compton, London and Glasgow to work with some of the most established producers and writers in pop to improve her own skills and record a collection of records which she plans to release in 2018. Moving forward with her career she continues collaborating with other UK artists and is slowly but surely growing recognition as both a writer and performer having had vocalist and writing credits with releases on Strictly Rhythm and upcoming on Mau5trap Records.
The self confessed witch obsessed songstress takes inspiration from the likes of Depeche Mode, Yeah Yeah Yeahs, Radiohead, The Weeknd, Kate Bush and Bowie. Having brewed up this storm for some time now LILURA is a force to be reckoned with.
