MIXING COCKTAILS, TUNES... AND VEGANS! music by Alfie Paca and DJรK ยท food by Kath & Roger* and **Adriana*
๐๏ธ Entry: totally free, just RSVP! ๐ Date: Friday, 7 Febryary 2025 ๐ Time: 7:00 PM โ midnight ๐ Location: Karamel Club - 4 Coburg Rd, London N22 6UJ ๐ฌ Group chat: for updates on this and future events, or to chat with the hosts and other attendees, join us on WhatsApp via https://bit.ly/LondonVeganMixer
๐ชฉ Join us for a fabulously fun night at Karamel Club, where we'll take over the entire venue - you can socialise in the restaurant area over food and drinks, or dance the night away if you're up for some groovy beats! (There will always be a seating area dedicated to quieter conversations.)
THE FOOD
๐๐ Karamel's menu varies every time! (It's announced on a blackboard.) Burgers and pizzas are usually on offer, often alongside a special of the day, like an Indian thali or a stir fry inspired by East Asian cuisines; plus of course a number of delicious sides and desserts.
๐๐ฎ๐น For this Mixer, there will be a special Italian option thanks to Adriana, vegan food blogger @avegtastefromatoz. This "Ithalian" (as surely that's what Italian food served on a thali platter ought to be called ๐) combination will include an antipasti spread, a main and a side.
THE MUSIC
๐ธ๐ฆ As background for the first part of the night: instrumental live music played by Mixer regular Alfie Paca.
๐๐บ Deejay set curated by DJรK (@djakfruit) from 9pm: an eclectic mix of dance music across a broad spectrum including house, rap, pop, drum and bass, dubstep, r'n'b and more.
ATTENDING
๐๏ธ๐ฑ Entry to the event is totally free, but please do support the venue by buying some of their delicious food and drinks (both 100% vegan!).
๐ซถ๐ค All are welcome, and we strive to make the event a safe and inclusive space for everyone - no discriminatory or abusive behaviour of any kind will be tolerated.
THE VENUE
Karamel is a very short walk from Wood Green Tube station (Piccadilly Line). The entrance to the venue is step-free and there is a wheelchair-accessible toilet. Karamel is dog-friendly, so feel free to bring your furry friends if they'll enjoy it.
Originally founded and run by vegan activists, today itโs operated by Collage Arts (a charity supporting the local community) and managed by the lovely Kath who, together with her charming husband Roger, also prepares the delicious homemade food served thereโฆ in very generous portions ;) and not forgetting the fairly affordable prices!
For well over a decade now, Karamel has been at the heart of Londonโs vegan community, helping it reach its current size - for example:
- giving a new home to London Vegan Drinks (a London Vegan Meetup event and Europeโs largest vegan social gathering at the time!) when it outgrew its preceding venues
- providing a welcoming environment for LGBTQ+ vegans (inclusivity and safeguarding having always been a central tenet of theirs) with Fat Gay Vegan's Queer Vegan Disco
- throwing official or de facto afterparties for many Animal Rights marches and protests
Nowadays, they host not only another London Vegan Meetup event, the regular Geekstraveganza (as theyโve done since its inception in 2016), but also a lot of other wonderful events for both the local area and the wider London vegan community.
