KAIYO have performed both as a duo (Simon & Amy) and as a trio. Tonight they are expanding into a quartet with Dave Ingamells on drums and featuring saxophonist Josephine Davies.

These London-based musicians are drawn to the interactive potential of the jazz piano trio, taking inspiration from some of the great facilitators of group improvisation in jazz, Bill Evans, Jimmy Guiffre and Miles Davis. Featuring the lyrical improvising voice of Amy Baldwin and Simon Purcell’s original compositions and reimagined standards.

Tonight they are joined by saxophonist Josephine Davies. Winner of the 2019 Parliamentary Award ‘Jazz Instrumentalist of the year’, Josephine Davies is a musical artist at the forefront of the UK contemporary music scene, pushing the boundaries of jazz with her current main artistic project Satori – a sax/bass/drums trio with an emphasis on extended and collaborative improvisation.
