Mike & Reina Reinstein

We’re delighted to welcome back Mike Reinstein and Reina James-Reinstein to the Mini Concerts stage—this duo has been enchanting audiences in Sussex for years.

Mike is a Sussex-based singer-songwriter whose work spans beautifully between grown-up reflections and playful, imaginative tunes for children. His latest album, The Birds Don’t Sing Around Here (2024), features rich arrangements, from brass and piano to thought-provoking lyrics that marry humour and depth. His catalogue also includes creative gems like More To Be Revealed, A Long March Home, Acts of Love, and a charming children’s collection, The Blewdle, all full of storytelling and heart.

Reina brings her own remarkable presence to their performances. A talented singer, pianist, songwriter, actress and novelist—she won the Society of Authors’ McKitterick Prize for her debut novel in 2007. Since childhood, Reina’s music roots run deep—starting with the ukulele and blossoming into folk and band performances in the 60s and 70s.

Together, they’re a spellbinding duo—Mike’s guitar and evocative songs meet Reina’s keyboards and vocals to create something truly heartfelt and profound. Their music is intimate, honest, and crafted with such warmth—it’s exactly the kind of experience that makes our Mini Concerts so special.

The concert takes place at HurstWorks, a new coworking and meeting space in the heart of Hurstpierpoint, where a bar serving alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks will be available throughout the evening.
