Born in the Central American country of Guatemala. Since 2009 Hot Sugar Mama have been composing rock ‘n’ roll to play to their highly divided society where music – and in particular rock – is one of the few things that can bring people together.
Their traditional influences are funk, rock and blues but the culture of their own country always weaves into their songs be it through sound, languages or the subjects they tackle.
The band have won prizes such as national best newcomer, best rock song and have frequently topped both rock and pop charts in Guatemala. This has been particularly hard without a solid music industry.
Hot Sugar Mama is currently in the process of promoting their second album, a self-titled released on April 2015.
