Himalayas are an Indie band from Cardiff comprising Joe Williams (rhythm guitar and vocals), Mike Griffiths (lead guitar and vocals), Louis Heaps (Bass) and James Goulbourn (drums).
The band started in early 2015 and by December had a cemented a reputation around the South Wales Music scene and embarked on a six-date UK tour comprising Cardiff, Bristol, London, Brighton, Manchester and Liverpool.
Sonically the band offers seductive guitar lines, hip bass parts that will groove you to the core all driven by an avalanche of drums. The songs are fresh yet have a dark undercurrent to them. The music is slick and melodic with well thought out lyrics and hook lines so catchy you can hang your hat on them.
Performance wise Himalayas put on an energetic, jaw dropping show. Their rapport and banter with their audience will make you feel like you’ve known them for years and you are guaranteed to go away wanting more and humming the tunes for days.
Himalayas released their debut EP ‘Ecstasy’ on Peepshow Records in August 2016. The EP was positively received and garnered a considerable amount of radio play. The release was followed by a short UK tour. Including festivals such as The Big Cwtch, and the nationally acclaimed Swn Fest .
The band returned to the studio in November 2016 to start work on their next release, ‘Thank God I’m Not You’ which was released in May 2017. The track received an overwhelming response and aside form gaining over half a million plays on Spotify has also received national airplay on Radio 1 (Huw Stephen), Radio X (John Kennedy), Amazing Radio (Elise Cobain) and Vigin Radio where it was play listed for 6 weeks and was Edith Bowmans song of the week.
Live, the band has recently played London, Manchester, Liverpool, Leeds, Brighton, Bristol and Cardiff. They also recently played Isle of Wight Festival 2017 and will also be playing Tramlines, Y-Not Festival and Reading Festival over the next six weeks.
