THE ASTEROID NO.4 Usher in the tender sway of shoegaze shows of yesteryear with their new release “Northern Songs.” Founders and childhood friends Scott Vittorelli and Eric Harms are surrounded by a family of friends in Matthew Rhodes and new additions Camilla Saufley (Golden Void) and Mark Tarlton (Echodrone). There’s a fresh energy to “Northern Songs” as they’ve returned to their danceable, yet somewhat darker roots.

Their signature blend is a fuzzed-out mass with spectral vocals and winding guitar beside iconic lyrics. Earworms on ”Northern Songs” include “All Mixed Up,” “Northern Song” and “Swiss Mountain Myth” which is about their last European stint living in mortal fear of their machete-wielding tour driver.

They’ve packed rooms in Europe before, but none as sweet at the ones connecting with people again post-pandemic. And none with songs as strong as recent releases “Collide” and “Northern Songs.” If you haven’t listened to The Asteroid No.4’s last two releases, then you’re missing out on a stellar return of American psychedelia from the San Francisco bay area.

“They are known for their prolific discography of reverb-drenched recordings and liquid-projected live performances.” – The Big Takeover

“Their latest single is vintage Asteroid No. 4: humming, fuzzed-out shoegaze riffs and echoing harmonies. The lead drifts above the din, a shoegaze hallmark of psych brethren, Ride and Slowdive.” - POW Magazine

MAGIC SHOPPE Boston, Massachusetts based, known for delighting in distortion and reverb. They take notes from My Bloody Valentine, The Jesus and Mary Chain, Spacemen 3, Loop and have a European psych shoegaze sound which flirts with industrial and new wave. The warm and fuzzy tonality can washout into soundscapes or crash into a maelstrom. They balance retro and futuristic music with thumping bass and jangling rhythms with dark vocal melodies. The band consist of Josiah Webb (vocals, lead guitar), Stevie Moonboots (bass), Dave Mulvaney (drums), Richie Gibson (rhythm guitar) and Mat Durie (rhythm guitar). Magic Shoppe have offered up their own fuzzy, wall of sound influenced blend of shoegaze across four EPs, four full-length studio albums and one live album over the past nine years. With three well-received European tours since 2017 and a fifth full-length studio album (Mono Lake) being released in February 2021, the band will now embark on their fourth European tour.
