Ghyti is a four piece avant-rock band from Adelaide who have become live favourites for their post-punk and Britpop inspired sound. Reflecting influences from Blur to Pavement and Arctic Monkeys, Ghyti's high energy songs are often described as 'quirky'. The lyrics are about common experiences, while the guitar riffs and driving rhythms are made to dance to, and this combination makes the band a stand-out in the Adelaide scene.
Ghyti began as a solo project, releasing two EPs in 2010 and 2011, but quickly grew into a full lineup, releasing their first band EP 'Life Is Cheap' in 2013, followed by 'Fluorescent Lights' in October 2014, and the 'Give Us Your Money/Eyes On You' single in 2015. They have played extensively in Adelaide and Melbourne, showcased internationally at Canadian Music Week 2015 in Toronto, and were invited to play at the 2015 Culture Collide festival in Los Angeles. In 2016 Ghyti supported three Australian indie legends, Custard, Regurgitator and Jeremy Neale.
The band has been featured in the AU Review, Scenestr, Rip It Up and B-Side Magazines, and on blogs including The Music, A Journal of Musical Things, RiffYou, Confront Magazine and The Equal Ground. The band self-produced a 20-minute short film to promote the 'Fluorescent Lights' EP, and in April 2016 they released their latest EP 'Commodities'. Ghyti continue to feature regularly on local, national and international radio, and have already begun work on their next EP.
