About

Hailing from the South East Wales valleys town of Pontypool, FORT are an instrumental post-rock band with ambitions as big as their sound. Having played in bands that continually crossed paths, in 2017, the seeds were sown to grow into what is now FORT.

Citing Sleepmakeswaves, And So I Watch You From Afar and Caspian as major influences on their work, FORT take to the skies with their soaring guitars and driving basslines. Albeit instrumental, FORT manages to capture a sense of raw emotion, creating soundscapes that take the listener on a cinematic and sometimes primal adventure.

Previous projects have taken the guys to Canadian Music Week, Camden Rocks Festival, Swn & more with the likes of Death Cab for Cutie, Kids in Glass Houses, Samoans & The Dirty Youth.

Featuring ex members of the Undivided, Amy Grindhouse and Digital Criminals, members have previously been supported by the Arts Council Wales and have featured as a composer for The BBC and Arts Council Wales' 'It's Your Shout'.

Their live debut in May 2018 was to a packed crowd in their hometown. Their passion is evident live as they give everything to convey the emotion in the tracks. Recently FORT supported Arch Echo and Schiermann at Le Pub as part of the 'Road to Techfest' tour, played the Marquee Stage at Welshfest and the legendary Dragonffli for a few shows, one showcasing the region’s instrumental talent. They have played shows with Last Hyena, False Hope for the Savage, Soeur, Excuses, The Decoy and more; building rapports and a loyal local following within the math & post rock scene in Waes. Shows and festivals are booked with the band itching for more shows all over the UK!

Press

'FORT are an achingly new post rock band from South Wales. They got in touch with us last year with a track and we liked what we heard so when they came back to us just before Christmas with a 3 track EP we were more than pleased to give it a listen.

As it turns out, it’s great. Coming in at the chunkier, mathier end of the post rock spectrum it calls to mind the likes of Dialects and ASIWYFA and it lays down a marker announcing that they are a band to keep an eye on' - Echoes & Dust – January 2018 http://echoesanddust.com/2018/01/under-the-influence-with-fort/

'Exquisite noise' - Adam Walton, BBC Radio Wales

Describing themselves as a Post-Rock band, FORT are all about subverting your expectations and keeping you on your toes. Within the first 2 minutes we’ve already been treated to three different sections, each with different tempos and time signatures, and that’s just the beginning! - InTiwn https://intiwn.wordpress.com/2018/04/10/fort-an-extended-play-ep-review/ 'Digging it guys. Starty Parter was my favourite track. Keep up the good work' - Punktastic
