FIONA is a singer-songwriter based in Leeds. Influenced by Nick Cave, Pj Harvey and Joni Mitchel her music combines elements of story telling and social action with complex lyrical ideas, supported by her powerful voice and folk inspired instrumentation.
She moved to the north just over four years ago where she rediscovered her love of writing and performing. Whilst studying at Leeds College of Music she began to realise that she wanted to use music as a way of enacting social change.
In January 2017 she released her debut EP Right Now which began exploring some of these ideas and throughout her final year of study she began to develop the Songs of Experience Project, which aims to promote understanding and awareness of social issues through music.
Her next single Genderland is to be released 31/03/18 and explores gender inequality and sexism.
