Breathe - CD Album
Debut album from Echolines
NE Volume Dec 2017/Jan 2018 - Album Review: Breathe Melodic Newcastle rockers, Echolines, have just released a spectacular 11-track album and it's, quite frankly, blown me away. Their brand new album, 'Breathe' (when listened to alphabetically), opens up with an ethereal and soul-lifting pop-indie-ballad-hybrid kind of track which then leads the rest of the album into a great symphony that takes the listener on an inspirational musical journey. There's just something distinctly dramatic and somewhat ferocious in Echolines sound. And the way the sometimes erratic yet powerful guitar lines pierce through the mix - in songs like 'HisPrize' and 'MakeUMine' especially - makes for a unique stylistic composition. The mix itself is extremely tight and well put together, especially in stand-out track 'MrsJames' where the bass and drums blend together seamlessly. This then leads on to more intense songs such as 'RatherHaveU', where you can hear influences from the pop-punk genre creeping in. This fiery, youthful, punk vibe (think A Day to Remember) along with an orchestral new-wave style (think New Order) is what helps Echolines stand out from the crowd. The album finishes on 'UCall', a brilliant piece of music brimming with beautiful instrumentals and a fantastic storyline told through powerful and evocative lyrics. Overall, it’s a stunning and fitting end to a great album - an album that is definitely worth purchasing. The new album is available now on all digital platforms.
