“The screeching ferocity and infectious melodies of bands like Bikini Kill and Sleater Kinney with an anger only the politics of 2016 could inspire” - NYLON
Self-proclaimed ‘feminist punk witches’ Dream Nails formed in London in late 2015, and since the release of their EP ‘DIY’ in April, the foursome have enjoyed “semi-legendary status on the London gig circuit”, as well as several sold-out shows in the UK, a headline slot on the Sisterhood stage at Glastonbury Festival, and an impending December tour to Belgium and Holland. Lauded by Dazed & Confused for having "a political push that’ll send any audience member reeling", Dream Nails’ DIY-powered energy is contagious. “DIY is about never asking permission, about being self-sufficient and about believing in yourself” explains vocalist Janey. “In a capitalist patriarchy where women are told to be dependent, DIY is about developing your own strength. Instead of waiting for someone to tell you you're good enough, tell yourself!”
As well as their offerings of an EP and cut’n’paste handmade fanzine, the band recently premiered their video for ‘Deep Heat’ on NYLON in time for Bonfire Night and the U.S. election. Featuring the line “nobody cares that your dick is on fire”, the London-based band say that ‘Deep Heat’ is “not a song, but a hex” on misogynistic politicians.
