Dorec-a-belle the 4 piece all female group from the Highlands will release ‘Listen’ on Monday April 7th as a free download from www.musicglue.com with a single launch in their hometown of Inverness at Mad Hatters (above Hootananny) on Thursday April 10th supported by local singer/songwriter Topher Elliott.
The band have a unique sound of four-part vocal harmonies with acoustic guitar, sax, accordion & cello which they have taken across Scotland playing the likes of Belladrum Tartan Heart Festival, Live At Troon Festival, Black Isle Brewery's Jocktoberfest, Glasgow's Summer of Song Festival Festival and Southside Festival, Celtic Connections' Danny Kyle Stage, as well as supporting The Magic Numbers, Glenn Tillbrook, The Staves, The Bonfire Band and guitar virtuoso Nick Harper.
Summer 2013 their track ‘Listen’ won the Sunday Herald newspaper's nation-wide Unsigned Band Competition, after a three-stage contest including a public vote and live play-off final held in Glasgow. The prize was a slot at the famous Wickerman Festival near Dumfries and in July Dorec-a-belle duly opened the Saturday main stage, receiving glowing reviews for their performance and sunny, festival sound.
Their music has notched up widespread radio play, including Radio Scotland's Iain Anderson show, Celtic Music Radio, MGT, Dunoon FM, Loch Broom FM, Nevis FM and online stations, the band has been variously likened to The Be Good Tanyas, Arcade Fire and Mumford & Sons. However Dorec-a-belle aim is to produce a unique sound of their own through instrumentation and of course their songs rather than imitate the sound of others.
On Monday April 7th ‘Listen’ will be released as a digital single as the band’s first release of 2014 accompanied by a tour of venues across Scotland.
Maryann Frew said ‘The four or us are exceptionally proud of the feedback ‘Listen’ received last summer from the press & Scottish Festival circuit. We are pleased to be releasing the track as our first release of 2014”.
