The Evaluation
Overall, this project has not been nearly as successful as I wanted it to be. Many things ran late, didn't come out exactly as I had envisioned, or were not completed at all. This was due to some severe motivational issues, as well as poor planning and lack of 'drive' to get things done. This project, while itself affected heavily by these factors, have allowed me to grow and develop past them, and will hopefully allow me to better perform and adapt in the future. I feel that if I were given this project again, I would be able to better plan, and carry out all the intended objectives as well as better adhere to, for instance, a Gantt chart that I have set out for myself, rather than leaving everything last minute.
However, that is not to say that it has been all bad, I think the work that I have managed to get into this portfolio is good, and is a good representation of the work I have performed in the past two years of study. I HAVE expanded my industry contacts and done a lot more work (as well as get a regular job doing live sound).
Goals
Meet and develop relationships within the industry This has been achieved, I have worked with many fellow engineers in a multitude of different fields, shadowed them and even done paid work. Learn to control my focus and stay on task, don't get distracted. This is where I feel I fell short, in the end it came together but the whole effort would've been alot better had I stayed on track from the start. The project was almost a failure due to not being able to achieve this. Get more industry experience As expressed in the first goal, I have done a lot of industry work in the past year, not all of it interesting enough for this portfolio. Build a portfolio to showcase my understanding of sound That's what this has been, and despite hiccups, it is here for you to see.
All in all, while I didn't met all of the intended goals of the plan, I did manage to achieve enough of them that I feel the project was successful and worthwhile.
