“The fact that Robert Plant dropped into a Bare Bones Boogie Band pub gig earlier this year speaks volumes about the wind currently gathering in this band’s sails. Established heavy-hitters on the live circuit, the unsigned quartet are growing creatively in the studio too. Their self-released third album Tattered & Torn retains the ‘boogie’ element on belters like Time To Be Free and Appreciation, but guitarist Iain Black’s songwriting is finding different shades on the reflective Love Like Leather, while Helen Turner’s voice remains in a different class. Percy’s not the only one who wants a piece of them.”, Classic Rock
The Bare Bones Boogie Band formed in October 2008, playing stripped-down, heavy, soulful blues, described as "a Janis Joplin fronted Free". Dynamic, sometimes heavy, sometimes mellow, they kept things simple to let the music breathe, both raw and tender, rooted in the heavy electric blues-rock and soul of the late 60s / early 70s. Their last gig was in September 2014. Their third album, Tattered & Torn, was rated one of the best of 2013 by Classic Rock: The Blues. Previous releases, Red and Blue were similarly successful with sales and radio plays around the world.
“Tattered & Torn is a triumph of fine songs, empathetic playing and singing of passion, spirit and feeling.", R2 Rock’n’Reel.
