Beginning as a solo project for Melbourne’s Rhea Caldwell, Baby Blue has since grown into a rocking, rollicking three-piece combining 60’s rock, folk, and pop. Baby Blue’s songs still retain the folk backbone – that storytelling, those intimate moments – but have grown to an electrifying roar. Guitarist Fabian Hunter’s fretwork complements Caldwell’s ear for melody while drummer Nathanael Riley’s playful beat locks audience feet into a swinging groove. Their second single, ‘Bit Slow’, is just a taste of their already outstanding catalogue among sombre murder ballads and sorrowful songs of unrequited love, known well by the audiences who’ve followed her entrancing live shows. "Even solo and starting out, Caldwell's lyrics and rich vocals stuck in the craw. Now a three-peice and with a debut single, Baby Blue are starting to make noise around the traps. With the combination of Fabian Hunters surfy noodling, Nathanael Riley's effortless beat-keeping and Caldwell's captivating lyricism, it's easy to see why." Jake Cleland, Strine WHINE.
