Alfreda is an 18 year old singer/songwriter. She has been writing and recording in London for the past couple years, but is now working on her debut album in Berlin with songwriter Craig Walker (of the 90’s bands ‘Power of Dreams’ and ‘Archive’). Her new music features appearances from musicians such as Tyler Pope (LCD Soundsystem) and Knox Chandler (Siouxsie and the Banshees). When she is not recording in Berlin, she is playing gigs in London with her band, headlining at legendary venues such as Proud Camden, The Lexington and The O2 Academy Islington. Alfreda aims to keep making music and have an album ready for release by the end of 2016.
Alfreda grew up in New York City, which is where her father, poet/playwright Glyn Maxwell, encouraged her to start writing. It was when she and her family relocated to England in 2006 that she began singing and making her own music. She is the goddaughter of the late fashion icon Isabella Blow, who has partly inspired her style and aesthetic.
Alfreda’s musical influences are Radiohead, Kate Bush and Lady Gaga. But she cites Bob Dylan, David Bowie, Alex Turner and Joni Mitchell as her lyrical idols.
