Baker IslandBaker Island are a band from Newcastle who make indie-noise-pop like “the fuzzy love child of Pavement and Pixies” (NARC).  Starting in 2013, initially as a recording project of Sean Dodds - with help from a collective of people including Jonny Helm from The Waves Pictures and Chris McManus from Cauls – they eventually became a live band comprising Sean (guitar and vocals), Kev Raijah (guitar), Cathy Russell (bass), Chris Perriman (keys) and Matt Hayward (drums). Never a joyous moment lyrically, each song still tries to outdo itself in how many hooks it can fit into each section, as if a prog-rock songwriter just discovered that pop songs can sometimes be just as worthwhile.

Between 2014 and 2016 they self-released 3 singles and a debut album 'Bobby Hundreds', "an LP filled with gloriously wonky-pop tunes" (NARC. Magazine). EP 'Four Days In The Life Of The Auto-Icon' was released on California's Wiener Records, and single ’Demolishing The Fourth Wall' was released in September 2016 on EDILS Records. In August 2017, their second LP ‘Restless Legs’ was released on Philophobia Music.

The band have received airplay including BBC Radio 1, BBC 6 Music, BBC Introducing in the North East, and Amazing Radio.

The band have appeared at Indietracks Festival, Evolution Emerging Festival, and alongside Jeffrey Lewis, Chorusgirl, Sky Larkin, Allo Darlin', Witching Waves, The Wave Pictures and The Lovely Eggs, amongst others.

An EP is due for release in Summer 2018.
