What's Been Happening?
Good news and bad news this week! The good news is that I have managed to secure the first gig date with the full band (8th of March at The Banshee Labyrinth) :D. The bad news is that half of my band quit on Friday. Yep. My drummer and backing vocalist have decided to focus on their own music. Of course I am very sad to see them go but I would rather they were happy than force them into rehearsals every week. I wish them both the best of luck with their music!
Outside the band, I have started two writing projects for uni. The first one is a trance track that I am mixing for my music tech course and I'm really enjoying it, having rarely touched any kind of electronic or dance music before. The second is a paired task for my composition course. For this, I have to write a piece of music which has been requested to me by one of my classmates. I have been asked, by my partner, to write a piece of music with complex and challenging chords. I'm going to get started on that today so, fingers crossed, I can do a good job and he'll be happy!
This Week
The clock is already ticking before the first band gig so I need to find myself a new drummer and a backing vocalist ASAP! I'm going to try to keep all the band members as Napier students so we can use the rehearsal space. I think I'll ask my course-mates to start with and work from there.
On Thursday, from 20:00, I will be playing a few songs at 'The Freakeasy Showcase' in The Banshee Labyrinth. Should be a really cool Cabaret kind of evening so I'm really looking forward to it! Ross (the guy that runs the show) is an absolute legend and stand up comedian. The link to his Facebook page is below:
