Strength To Carry On Magazine (8 page)
Discover the full story behind the single Strength To Carry On in this Mini-Mag
This mini-mag tells the story behind the song 'Strength To Carry On'; the incredible story of Doris Page (pen name Ann Armstrong) who despite being paralysed by Polio disease from the neck down for thirty years of her life, went on to write and publish books (BBC published) and magazines, typing with her toes, to champion support for disabled people to live independently. For all her bravery and work in journalism, Ann was awarded an MBE by Queen Elizabeth II, and more recently a blue plaque was mounted on her former home in Newbury in Spring 2022 to commemorate her as a person of significant historical importance. Ann was Will's Grandmother.
This mini-mag includes the story of Ann Armstrong, plus photos and an original extract from her famous 'Responaut' magazine (a pre-internet community platform for disabled people to share their stories together) plus lyrics to the song and a QR code on the front which you can scan with a smart phone to stream the track on Spotify, Amazon Music, Apple Music, Deezer and more!
