WHO KILLED NANCY JOHNSON are a Reading-based high-energy punk/post-punk band, and an incendiary live act. Formed in 2015 their influences range from early British art punk (Wire, Magazine, Gang of Four) to later US bands like Black Flag, Fugazi and the Adolescents, right up to current acts like No Problem and Idles.

Since 2016 the band has gigged at multiple venues in Reading, Basingstoke, Oxford, Guildford, High Wycombe, Kingston, London, Brighton, Chatham, Southampton, St Albans, Colchester, Evesham, Worthing and Cirencester, releasing their first EP, Cops and Robbers, in January 2017.

In late 2017 WKNJ made their first visit outside the UK with a couple of dates in Milan, and played a set for BBC Introducing LIVE.

In 2018 they toured France, released their second EP, Flat Earth Theory, followed by an eponymous full-length CD-only album that collected all their recorded work so far, including remixes and material not released elsewhere. This was followed in September with the release of a single for Musicians Against Homelessness, They Reap.

So far in 2019 a cassette and download EP, They Reap Sessions, has been released. A vinyl split EP came out in April from Sounds of the Suburbs Records, and the band is currently writing new material for an album due in late 2019/early 2020.

FROM A TWISTED MIND

Four veterans who have all played in bands since teen years & had various degrees of success in one way or another. But From A Twisted Mind - they all agree - the best band they’ve played in, the most original and the one that has had the most success in the shortest time.

All songs are originals and there is huge variety as all the band are writers. Reference points go from Killing Joke to The Damned to The Stranglers.
