You wake up. They're next to you. And you know absolutely that, right here and now, you're in love. From far away you can hear the traffic, the wind. But here inside it's warm and still. A ray of sun hits the wall. And you're thinking about the day ahead. Maybe the day after that. The times to come. Perhaps time so far ahead that none of this remains. The day awaits. Life goes inexorably on. But perhaps just a few more moments here in this safe place together. Before you let the light in.
While Neil Armstrong and Buzz Aldrin descended to the Moon's surface, Michael Collins remained in the lunar module and passed its far side. There, in radio silence and the furthest from home any human being had ever been, he watched the stars roll past. Here's to you, Mike.
"The opening riff in this track took us to a mountainside where snow was falling against its stark sides. Our writing process is incremental. We use the mood of a riff or a rhythm as a starting point, and them jam and build different ideas around that nucleus."
