The bastard teenage love child of cockney guitar pop and just about anything that came out of New York during the early ‘00s, The Jacques are two sets of brothers, aged 16-21, who charge their Britpop bayonets against the modern view that rock and roll with clever lyrics is dying. Brought up on a diet of The Strokes, The Ramones, The Jam, The Lemonheads and Elvis Costello, they’ve been bringing their own brand of noisy pop punk to venues and festival stages all year.

Already championed by John Kennedy on XFM (who booked them for his Remedy night after hearing Pretty DJ for the first time), and Huey Morgan on 6 Music, The Jacques will release their debut Pretty DJ EP (recorded in Rockfield Studios with Dan Swift) through 25 Hour Convenience Store on November 3rd. Gary Powell, Libertines drummer and label founder, signed the band on the spot after seeing them perform in Hyde Park ahead of The Libertines headline show. He explains “There was a really big crowd forming and I was interested to see who was on, and there were these 4 kids up there just owning it. I thought ok, we definitely want this lot on the label.
