Scottish new wave band Altered Images formed in Glasgow in 1979, fronted by singer Clare Grogan. Known for their bright pop melodies and post-punk edge, they broke through with their 1981 debut album Happy Birthday. The title track became their biggest hit, reaching No. 2 on the UK Singles Chart and turning the group into one of Britain’s most exciting new acts. Altered Images soon won Best New Group at the NME Awards and scored further chart success with songs like I Could Be Happy. Blending infectious pop with new wave energy, the band remain an iconic part of the early-80s British music scene. This September, we welcome Clare & her band to The Forum when they play that iconic breakthrough album in its entirety. We cannot wait!
