Once likened to four brothers, Bristol UK based Tungz are a tight-knit group delivering an intoxicating blend of 70s synths, disco grooves and friendship. Emerging from their basement home-studio Tungz are clearing the way for a new era of funk-inspired bedroom pop.
In February 2018, without a manager or label, Tungz released their self-produced, debut single, ‘Window Love’ which became an instant bedroom-pop hit. It featured on BBC Radio 1Xtra, Dummy Mag, and Spotify’s Fresh Finds and ensured a global reach in the blogosphere from Canada (HillyDilly) to Japan (Niche Music) and college press in Atlanta, Georgia, USA. Always looking to put on a show, their single launch featured 100 free, homemade donuts baked by Jamie and delivered to the crowd in a keyboard case.
The online and local excitement surrounding Tungz led to a string of big-name shows in the band’s hometown Bristol. Tungz went on to play notable slots in Bristol’s three top festivals in the summer of 2018, Dot to Dot, Harbour Festival and Simple Things. Drawing bigger crowds with each show, their electric live performance secured them support slots with Franc Moody, Boy Pablo and Her's.
Having released their homegrown follow-up funk jam, ‘Fruit’, there is no doubt that exciting times lie ahead for Tungz as they solidify themselves as unique artists in their own funky world.
