Ideal Surreal are pleased to present an evening of alternative indie-pop courtesy of Pip Blom, Sink Ya Teeth, Stromm and Yellow Hammers.

Based in Amsterdam, 20 year old Pip Blom writes, records and releases her own indie-pop tunes with a twist. With raw guitar power and catchy melodies. she has already received acclaim from BBC Radio 1’s Huw Stephens, BBC 6Music’s Steve Lamacq and massive support from American tastemakers KCRW. Their songs have been featured in influential Spotify playlists New Music Friday, Fresh Finds and Indie Songs For Slackers. In 2016 Fine City Label, Grunt Grunt A Go Go, released the double A-side 7” release Truth / Hours receiving rave reviews including DIY Magazine (“A gem”) and The Line Of Best Fit (“A gigantic dollop of catchy pop pep”). On March 17th Pip will be releasing her follow up single 'I Think I'm In Love' which proceeds her April Tour, during which this “exceptionally talented lo fi rock monster” (Fingers On Blast) visits the fine city for only her second time. Listen to Pip on all music platforms and http://pipblom.com/ and buy those tickets quickly, she is going to be huge.

Supporting are Sink Ya Teeth, formed at the tail end of 2015 from a mutual love of late 20th century pop culture and a desire to create songs that you can dance to.'The pair couple the uniquely unsettling vocals of Maria with the heavy post-punk basslines of Gem to form a powerful and mesmerising two-piece, minimal in sound, but with a crystalline primal ferociousness that reflects the bands name. Think ESG and Young Marble Giants , Donna Summer and Siouxsie Sioux, Grace Jones and the Tom Tom Club, and you're getting the idea.

We also have another local act, Stromm. With exquisite harmonies and catchy melodies they write mysterious, dark songs, and lighter, more pop-influenced compositions which draw on their wide-ranging influences. They have also been known to play covers by American 'slow core' group, Low, Elbow and Norwich art-rockers The Neutrinos.

Opening are Lo Fi new-wave newbies, Yellow Hammers, who are making their Ideal Surreal debut. A powerful quartet of female vocals, stark minimilistic guitar, with driving bass and drums, creating songs like panoramic sonic landscapes.

PIP BLOM Based in Amsterdam, 20 year old Pip Blom writes, records and releases her own indie-pop tunes with a twist. Although she only started releasing her raw guitar power with catchy melodies early 2016, she has already received acclaim from the likes of BBC Radio 1’s Huw Stephens, BBC 6Music’s Steve Lamacq and massive support from American tastemaker radio station KCRW. Besides that Pip received raving reviews from media like DIY Magazine (“A gem”), The Line Of Best Fit (“A gigantic dollop of catchy pop pep”), Fingers On Blast (“An exceptionally talented lo fi rock monster”) and The Most Radicalist (“Hipnotically lo-fi and brilliantly simplistic”). Looking at the stats, besides her own The Netherlands, America and England are important markets for Pip’s music with Amsterdam, London and Manhattan as major cities. The songs have been featured in influential Spotify playlists as New Music Friday, Fresh Finds, Indie Songs For Slackers and Absolute Alternative with almost 500.000 plays as a result! In 2016 Pip released the double A-side 7” release Truth / Hours on the Norwich based Grunt Grunt A Go Go label, the 3 track EP Are We There Yet on Toaster Records and limited edition 7” Working On It on the Paradiso Vinyl Club, the talent label of the prestigious Amsterdam club Paradiso. In februari 2017 Pip will release the single I Think I’m In Love, another catchy rocking tune, this time produced by Raven Aartsen from Mozes And The First Born.
