The Local London presents:
NICK ELLIS + special guest Noemie
Nick Ellis + Noemie
Entry Requirements: 18+
Nick Ellis is dedicated to the concept of “Song” and “Melody”. Some people call it folk, some just call it good old fashioned song craft.
Currently based in Liverpool, Ellis blends streetscape narrative-noir with a classic British acoustic approach. Using a blend of rhythmic attack and finger-quick lucidity, his sound has been described as “a conversation between Elvis Costello and John Martyn.”
"Fascinating" Whispering Bob Harris, BBC 2
"Hauntingly captivating, Nick Ellis has the gift many could only dream of" Lauren Jones, The Music Manual
"His guitar style stands out as much as the songwriting" Dave Monks, Radio Merseyside / BBC Introducing
Noemie
Noemie is a singer, experimental rock artist, sound designer and film composer. Born in Romandy (French Switzerland), and emigrating to UK as a child, she grew up in London, the diversity and history of which has formed an oasis at the roots of her music. Her compositions have a quality that have often been described as “transportive” and “hypnotising”, with strong influences from Middle Eastern styles as well as Medieval European chant.
Surrounded by blinking electronics and armed with an electric oud or guitar, she is these days accompanied by a cow-skin drum, synthesised drones, pieces of scrap metal and haunting harmonies.
This gig will be a part of Independent Venue Week 2019
